Simple Ways to Sleep Better
Hi everybody! It’s me again, your best pal in the whole world — Cheap Sheep! I’ve been hearing rumors in dreamland that some of you just aren’t sleeping right and it’s really bumming me out. Work, school, family and relationships can stress anyone out enough to miss quality Zzz’s. But I know better than anyone that getting better sleep can make you healthy, wealthy and wise!
There are several things you can do to sleep better and improve your bedtime!
Keep a Sleep Schedule
Sometimes it’s good to sleep-in on weekends, but don’t overdo it! Try going to sleep and waking up at around the same time every night. Consistency in your sleep schedule helps establish your body’s sleep-wake cycle for better sleep. If it’s taking you longer than 15 minutes to fall asleep, then get up and do something sleepy until you’re ready for bed.
Watch Your Diet
Heavy meals right before bedtime or going to bed hungry can result in a rough night! Sleepers should also stay away from chocolate, caffeine, nicotine and alcohol close to bedtime.
Stick to a Bedtime Ritual
The pre-bedtime “wind down” is one of the most important ways to sleep better at night. Turn off electronic devices, take a warm bath, read, or listen to music. Find a routine that works best for you and stick with it every evening.
Are You Comfy?
Create a “sleepy atmosphere” by making sure your bedroom is cool, dark and quiet. Use a sound machine, a fan, earplugs, or sleep mask to shut out all distractions. Also make sure you have the right luxury mattress and pillow for really sweet dreams. Nothing puts a cramp in comfort more than a crampy back and neck.
Get Rid of Bad Vibes!
Keep stress and negativity away from sleepy time. Try to be better organized during the day, and write down your worries before going to bed. Give yourself permission to relax and get better sleep.
